Blossom Turns Three!

Blossom Turns Three! | The Open Home
Someone is a little bit excited about turning three!

I love singing, pretend play, story time with Daddy, giving big hugs, chocolate cake, pink cakes and cake in general, the cafe at church, going to the library, collecting the post, play school, Daddy dates, plane spotting, blowing bubbles in the garden, going to the park, bath time, tea parties with my sister, writing with Mummy, Pooh Bear and Peter Rabbit.

My favourite toys are my bunny Boo, my ride on Moo, my dolls, toy animals, play kitchen and tea set.

My favourite books are Room on the Broom, The Gruffalo, ZogThe Paper Dolls and Hairy Maclary.

My favourite foods are bananas, blueberries, yogurt, cheese, baked beans, pink french fancies and of course, chocolate cake!

When I grow up I want to be a nurse or a lorry driver!

Dear Blossom, if you were an animal you’d be an elephant, because an elephant apparently never forgets and your memory is astounding! You already absorb so much into that sweet toddler brain of yours that I can’t wait to see how much you can learn when you become a preschooler in January. Dear Bubbles, you are officially eleven months old today and still as toothless as the day you were born! I have many sweet pet names for you but calling you my little gummy bear is most definitely my favourite. Dearest Daughters, no matter how big you get, how clever you may be or how many teeth you have, you will always be my babies.

What pet names do you use for the little ones in your life?

Dear Blossom, you turned two and a half last week and despite your young age seem to have already found your own unique style. You wear wellies with bloomers, think hair bands should be worn like this and can also rock a pair of leopard print glasses. That is no easy feat I can assure you and for that I’ll admit that mama is slightly jealous. Dear Bubbles, I can’t express how overjoyed I am that you are still a mummy’s girl! I felt sure I would have been knocked off my pedestal and replaced by that Daddy Man many months ago. However it would seem my cunning plan of back tracking on the sleep training and starting to feed you in the nights again is doing the trick, or wait, was that your cunning plan to wrap me around your little finger? I’m not quite sure. Dearest Daughters, you are bold and you are beautiful, may you always be this strong and courageous.

Were you a mummy’s girl/boy or a daddy’s girl/boy?

Dear Blossom, today you told me I was “beautiful”, “a very good girl” and even “an angel”! It appears you have inherited your Daddy’s eloquence when it comes to affirming words along with his height and cheeky character. Dear Bubbles, each new milestone brings with it new joys for both you and me. I’m so thankful that at nine months old you now finally enjoy having a bath! I don’t know how much longer I could use the excuse of saving the environment to justify the rarity of your bath times. At least now I know splashing in the bath will involve both of us laughing rather than both of us crying. Dearest Daughters, thank you for affirming me with your words and your smiles.

What sweet things have your little ones said to you lately?

Dear Blossom, you’re growing up way too fast for my liking. At 2 years old you are already 3ft tall and stealing my shoes! Thankfully you’re still not too old to give your mama a big hug. Feeling your warm arms wrapped round my neck is one of life’s most fulfilling things. Dear Bubbles, this week you have mastered the art of waving and it truly is a joy to behold. Watching you wave up at me during your bedtime feed was one of the best mummy moments so far, it touched my heart where it will safely be stored forever. Dearest Daughters, thank you for loving your mama so well.

What sweet things do your little ones do to make you feel loved?

Dear Blossom, never one to be left out, thanks for jumping in and creating this wonderful mummy moment for me – a Bubbles sandwich with my cheeky Blossom chops! The laughter coming from you girls was gloriously contagious.  Dear Bubbles, thanks for being such a good sport, so far you’ve been poked, pinched, kicked, slapped and now squished by your big sister during her attempts at playing with you and yet, you always seem to have a smile on your face. You’re quite a robust little thing really, a strong woman in the making I’m sure. Dearest Daughters, group hugs really are the best – long may they continue!

When did you last have a really good laugh?
