Challenging. Encouraging. Inspiring.
These posts have spoken to me over this past week, maybe they’ll speak to you too.
Happy Reading and Happy Weekend!
- The Day I Stopped Saying “Hurry Up” : The Huffington Post
Trying to live more simply is not always easy. It takes a conscious effort to free up time in your calendar, turn off that screen, get rid of the unnecessary ‘stuff’ and walk through life at a slower pace. I’m an organised type so in the past have easily maxed out my calendar to the full and crammed as much into the day as I could possibly squeeze. A few years back I came to realise that having a full calendar did not actually mean a full life. So, I started to make some changes, and continue to do so as I seek a more simple lifestyle for my family.
I love how, in this post, Rachel Macy Stafford so honestly explains how her busy schedule dictated the hurried pace of her daughters life and how it takes a concerted effort to live more slowly. I also love the message that by slowing down we have time to see our children for who they truly are, as well as time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life and time to truly live.
- When You Dream of Being a Housewife : Holley Gerth
Now, I’ll admit that I didn’t always want to be a housewife. If you’d asked me as a teenager if I would one day be a stay-at-home mother, I would have said ‘no way!’ God has definitely opened my eyes to this role and developed this dream in my heart over the past few years and what a blessing that I am now living it.
This post over on Holley Gerth’s site is so encouraging to us stay-at-home mamas. To the outside world staying at home with the kids may seem like the easier, lazier and more boring option. It may seem like a small dream in comparison to others. But we know different.
I love how Crystal Emily Wierenga opens this post: ‘I had always thought that God-sized dreams were big. But I had forgotten that Jesus fitted into a manger.’
